The Challenge for Charity Club at UC Davis organizes a number of fundraising and volunteering opportunities for the Daytime MBA Students at the Graduate School of Management at UC Davis.
We regularly go to the Boys and Girls Club in Sacramento to interact with the kids, and we assist Special Olympics with their Sport Competitions. We also have a new community partner, Team Davis. We are looking forward to joining the athletes for their practices, helping them with business-related problems and interacting with the members at social events.
Additionally, Challenge for Charity organizes a number of social events for students to raise money. The biggest event is our Annual Wine Tasting Benefit and Auction, which brings together students, faculty, staff and alumni for an evening of fun and fundraising.
The C4C year comes to a conclusion in mid-April, when we travel to Stanford for the C4C Weekend. At this event, students from all 9 school with a C4C chapter compete in a number of competitions. The winner of the weekend, which also considers money raised and time volunteered per student, takes home a Golden Suitcase.
From April 2009 until April 2010, UC Davis MBA students raised $14,806 and volunteered an average of 2.67 hours per student. These numbers (before adjustment) put us in 5th place compared to other schools. We are particularly proud of coming in 3rd place in fundraising per capita.
